Our State Senate does not interrogate executive branch nominees and approve appointments. There’s no advice and consent from that chamber. New Hampshire has an Executive council. Five individuals are elected by the people every two years to share power with the Governor on a range of things, but mostly approving contracts, accepting federal money and the strings attached, and a yeah or nay on the Governor’s nominees after a bit of conversation and comment.
Our State Librarian recently announced his retirement, which was one of those “oh, really” moments that can be colloquially refined to WTF - we have a state librarian? We do. We also have assistant state librarians and so on, a gaggle of tax-payer-funded folks in charge of the state Library who set rules and policy - or maybe just an example - for libraries all over the state.
A few years ago, no one would have blinked, twitched, or thought twice about it. It wouldn’t even be news; if it were, you’d see it at the end as a human interest piece or some such thing. Oh, by the way, the governor nominated a new state librarian. Aren’t they lovely? Go read a book.
Not anymore.
The Left politicized libraries first by getting men dressed in grotesque and insulting caricatures of women to read books to children. They then chose to fill limited and valuable shelf space with books aimed at sexing up minors who would then question their sexuality (something most would not even begin to think about for years).
Not long after schools, libraries, and everyone else started badgering children to question a sexuality that many of them barely understood and were not mentally prepared even to recognize, they started killing themselves in increasing numbers because of that. Let’s see. Hey you. You are in the wrong body. This disturbing adult-child cartoon porn will help us think we’re helping you.
You could say that librarians (teachers and other advocates for this foolishness) are responsible for any increase in suicidal ideation, and you should. If they’d just left well enough alone, everyone would be better off, and most of this would never have been an issue. But liberals are like untrained puppies (many of whom aren’t even cute) - they can’t leave anything alone.
Libraries are another battlefield in the culture war where books may include adult-child sex, drug abuse, self-harm (including suicide), graphic sexual depictions or descriptions, and plenty of gender-bending nonsense. Parents who object are domestic terrorists or just Hitlerian book banners. The nominee for state Librarian is a card-carrying narrative mule for the American Library Association and its insistence that these objections are “book banning.”
She leads seminars on how to prevent it.
