Opponents of Hand Counting Paper Ballots Have a California Problem
If delays are bad, why is this okay?
Since the circus in 2020, multiple efforts have been made in my home state of New Hampshire to get election ballots counted by hand. Bring a warrant article, ask the voters, and the results are consistent. The effort (almost always) fails, which is odd.
How odd is it (for fans of Match Game)?
While the Political left overwhelmingly opposes hand counting in favor of machines, if an election is close, they will request a hand count in an effort to win a race they were told they lost. Recounts are by hand and different from the machine count by a few (and sometimes a lot more) votes, but are considered definitive.
Another common objection to hand-counting ballot initiatives concerns the time it will take. Poll workers, clerks, and moderators might be up overnight to get the numbers to the Secretary of State.
These are the same people asking the DoJ to open investigations into parents who speak up at school board meetings … to protect Democracy. Or people who cited pre-covid science on masks and natural immunity. We’ve got loads of time for that, but asking election officials to count ballots by hand is a burden.
Even when it’s in defense of the most critical act of Democracy!
Then there’s the post-election count recount/re-re-recount/court challenges and the efforts that typically follow a Democrat member of Congress losing a race (or appearing to). We have to keep counting until we know who wins. This does not seem to be a burden on anyone, and it is an acceptable exercise in electoral efficiency.
And what about California? It is the leftiest left-coast state run by Democrats who are not concerned (at all!) about delay. The election was two weeks ago, and they are still counting ballots.
It’s become something so ridiculous that even non-conservatives are taking notice: California’s torturous ways of counting ballots. Election Day was over two weeks ago, and they’re still counting ballots. Nate Silver wondered rightly what would happen if California was a swing state and this process was allowed to fester. There would be mayhem.
It is not restricted to general elections. The linked report cited similar issues with Democratic primary results in California earlier this year. None of which seems to concern the people concerned about the time required to count ballots.
Can we suggest with more credibility than California’s ballot counting habits that the majority of people responsible for arriving at a result are progressives?
If they aren’t the least bit concerned about the time burden and delay, Democrats from New Hampshire or your state shouldn’t have a leg to stand on, unless, of course, they’d like to go on record criticizing the process.
Or, admitting what’s likely happening. They are counting until they find enough ballots to make sure the Democrat (or the right democrat) wins.
The sad truth of the matter is that our entire gov't has been compromised by the Uniparty and the system that controls them, which is worldwide. The RINO's on the right sabotage any effort that comes close to being enacted because they have as much to lose and are just as corrupt. This is what Trump is fighting against. I'm also in NH and the fraud is sickening. The Windham debacle was enough to convince anyone paying attention, and the corruption went all the way to the top of NH gov't.
I am a ballot clerks in a small NH town. I have counted ballots. They are usually counted by 5 different people. It takes longer, but worth it!
